Being Transparent and Accountable means:

- Speaking the truth as you see it, but being open to being wrong.

- Being a good neighbor and listener.

- Going on the record for public scrutiny.

- Being accountable with every hard-earned tax dollar.

- Acting in West Lane’s best interest, not for personal gain.

As your Commissioner, I will not shy away from controversial issues like so many cookie-cutter “safe” politicians. I will never claim that elected Commissioners can simply “do whatever they want and there’s nothing anyone can do about it." Serving the public honorably, accessibly and on equal footing is the only way worth doing it.

I will connect with you on a human level and hear your concerns, even (or especially) if we don’t share the exact same worldview. Leaders can hold themselves and their colleagues to a high standard, through positive relationships and fact-based discourse. We are all better when we break out of the disconnection and discord that keeps us pushed apart. Throughout my 32 years of lifelong dedication to this community, I have always strived for greater transparency, accountability, and public institutions that serve ALL people fairly.
